Abstract

Spinal deformity poses many challenges to the spine surgeon. In particular, a substantial imbalance in the sagittal plane sometimes cannot be corrected solely with arthrodesis with instrumentation. In these cases, spinal osteotomies with staged surgery must be performed to achieve balance in the sagittal plane. We report our case in treatment with staged posterior-anterior-posterior surgery for the correction of postsurgical sagittal imbalance by using the Smith-Petersen osteotomy and pedicle subtraction osteotomy.
